we got croissants and sweets from a bakery around the corner, then came back to the apartment to watch game seven of the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals. Ottawa took Pittsburgh to double overtime with their tight defensive play, so we didn't get out into the city until the afternoon.
we wandered around the Kyoto Botanical gardens, where we admired a lot of flowers and trees, ate some pizza, and got dive-bombed by a kite (see previous post) so closely that we almost felt its feathers on our faces.
then we biked over to a complex of Zen temples, where we visited Zuihou-In, my favourite one yet; best of all, we only briefly saw two other people there. it was quiet and lovely.
we got sushi for dinner at a little place around the corner, where a few other locals were eating at the counter and the chef/owner shouted everything at the top of his voice, almost screaming. it was delicious. (my favourite: maki with plum & shiso; B's favourite: anago [saltwater eel] sushi)
