We left Bratislava on the "express" train, which stopped every twenty minutes. It was a beautiful route up into the Tatras mountains in the north of Slovakia — we saw multiple ruined castles perched on clifftops out the window, the snow-covered peaks soared over wide blue lakes, and the mad combination of reserved and unreserved seats meant that nobody around us stayed in the same spot for more than one leg of the trip.
We got off in Poprad, took one more good look at the mountains in the sunset, found our airbnb, wandered around the nearby old town square, and grabbed some frozen pizzas for dinner on our way back.
