Halifax and Gaspésie, part 1: Témiscouata

We piled our things into a strikingly scuffed-up rented Kia Rio and headed northeast just before lunch today. Somewhere past Trois-Rivières, L got tired of the intense vibrations rattling his kidneys when the car got up to highway speeds; a phone call and a short detour later, we left the Quebec City airport in a much newer and sturdier Toyota Something.

We're staying the night at a very nice (and "unfussy" according to google and confirmed by us) motel in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, surrounded by hundreds of chirping tree swallows. We got an easy dinner at a cantine downtown and briefly braved a mosquito-heavy wooded waterside trail in search of the reported American Coot (none found).
