Halifax and Gaspésie, part 2: Fundy National Park

We left Témiscouata after one last check for American Coots and heading east. We found a bakery selling sandwiches for lunch along the route, where B bought some homemade sauerkraut for future hot dog plans and L got a bday cinnamon bun.

L managed to book a campsite on the way, battling courageously against spotty cell signals and a questionable user interface; when we drove through the clouds of blackflies into Fundy National Park, we agreed that we had picked the best site.

We continued down to the southern edge of the park and hiked Matthew Head Trail, where we saw some good birds, enjoyed beautiful views of the Bay of Fundy, and met a man on a mission to take a selfie on each of the hundreds of red plastic Adirondack chairs scattered in National Parks across Canada ("if you send them a selfie in all of them, they'll put a new chair out for you" — a claim we have not been able to confirm). On the Medicine Trail loop we found a green heron and a lot of beautiful flowering trees.

Back at the site, we set up our brand new tent and sleeping mats for the first time, which made us feel pretty chuffed. L built a decent fire and B cooked us some hot dogs and smores. A nightwalk flew over the tent and we fell asleep to loons calling on the nearby lake.
