The drive from Detroit to Pittsburgh was going just fine until the engine started to squeal. We stayed overnight in a motel just outside the Pitts and tried to forget about car problems. Luckily, we were distracted by a loud argument between a married couple, audible from well outside their second-floor room, and the various shady Americans wandering around. In the morning, while we were checking out, a large woman handed the manager a take-out coffee cup full of some bugs she'd caught in her room and demanded a full refund because they had kept her awake. He said they were everywhere and that there wasn't anything he could do about them.
We took the car in for yet another set of repairs and are now the proud owners of a new coolant pump. She's running great today; I'm writing this from a Starbucks just outside Washington, DC. We will head over to Beccah's friend Max's place soon and spend a few days checking out the city's exciting museums.
oh man, a cup full of motel bugs sounds truly disgusting. Those crazy, shady Americans.
